CELTA - Cambridge English Language Assessment's Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults is one of the world's foremost initial qualifications for people who wish to become professional teachers of English language. It is accepted throughout the world by organisations which employ English language teachers.
Cambridge English Language Assessment works with international ELT organisations to ensure the acceptance of Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA) globally. According to Cambridge English Language Assessment more than 10,000 candidates complete a Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA) course each year.
The Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA) course will be your passport into TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language.
ELT (English Language Teaching) was once commonly referred to as TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) but there was never a qualification known as TEFL.
The Cambridge CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults) is the most widely accepted initial teaching qualification.
CELTA candidates come from all walks of life. Many are recent university graduates, but others are already qualified as teachers of other subjects or are professionals in other fields looking for a change of career or a career break.
Most candidates see CELTA as the starting point of a long-term career in English Language Teaching (ELT). CELTA is suitable for those who wish to work in the field of ELT either within or outside their own country. Some candidates may have a short-term motive for teaching English and enrol on a CELTA course to gain the confidence and skills to teach English professionally.
CELTA is also suitable for students working on gap year programmes which include teaching English to adults.
Applicants do not need to have English as their first language, but must have a standard of English which will enable them to teach at a range of levels.
There is now quite a well-established career structure within the field in the UK. As a newly qualified teacher, you might consider looking for a job which will provide you with support for two to three years then consider taking the next-level qualification DELTA (Diploma in English Language Teaching to Adults). After this, you might think about moving into teacher support in the role of senior teacher. After gaining some more experience, many teachers go on to do an MA in ELT before moving into teacher training or ELT management.

Our 100% online full time courses have content delivered by tutors in real-time lessons via Zoom so you don't have to worry about self-directed study. Our tutors will be there to guide and support you.
If you need more flexibility, our part-time option is available. With this you can study when and where it suits you. Our tutors will be on hand to assist with guided lesson planning on a weekly basis.

Here at CES, we are proud to liaise with EF and NOVA language schools who are recruiting teachers in China and Indonesia (EF) and Japan (NOVA). Working with them will give you the opportunity to quickly gain some more language teaching experience as well as putting into practice all that you have learnt on the course. They are often on the lookout for enthusiastic and qualified teachers.
CES offers a number of homestay and self-catering accommodation options for students. All homestays are carefully selected and visited regularly to ensure consistently high standards and a warm welcome. Homestays are generally located in suburbs but we also have self-catering and half board residential options which are closer to the school, for students aged 18+.

Dublin, the capital of the Ireland, is on Ireland’s east coast at the mouth of the River Liffey. Its historic buildings include Dublin Castle, dating to the 13th century, and the imposing St Patrick’s Cathedral, founded in 1191. City parks include the landscaped St Stephen’s Green and the huge Phoenix Park, containing Dublin Zoo. The National Museum of Ireland explores Irish heritage and culture.
Dublin is dynamic, multi-cultural and welcoming. Ireland is well-known as the country of a thousand welcomes: Céad míle fáilte.
Personally, it was a very remarkable experience and a turning point in my teacher's career. The tutors were always clear and concise. Not to mention there were always ready to support candidates when they needed.
The teachers were very helpful, and the structure of the course in terms of skills practice and teaching general English knowledge was well-organised. Really appreciated it. Maybe task-based learning could be introduced m0re.
I really enjoyed the course and its content. The tutors were engaging, helpful and encouraging. They provided huge support and guidance through an intense and challenging programme and at times went out of their way to give the students the best learning experience possible. I feel I got a lot out of the course and a lot of that is because of CES and it’s tutors and their hard work. I would absolutely recommend anyone to undertake the CELTA with CES.
