CELTA - Cambridge English Language Assessment's Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults is one of the world's foremost initial qualifications for people who wish to become professional teachers of English language. It is accepted throughout the world by organisations which employ English language teachers.
Cambridge English Language Assessment works with international ELT organisations to ensure the acceptance of Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA) globally. According to Cambridge English Language Assessment more than 10,000 candidates complete a Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA) course each year.
The Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA) course will be your passport into TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language.
ELT (English Language Teaching) was once commonly referred to as TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) but there was never a qualification known as TEFL.
The Cambridge CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults) is the most widely accepted initial teaching qualification.
CELTA candidates come from all walks of life. Many are recent university graduates, but others are already qualified as teachers of other subjects or are professionals in other fields looking for a change of career or a career break.
Most candidates see CELTA as the starting point of a long-term career in English Language Teaching (ELT). CELTA is suitable for those who wish to work in the field of ELT either within or outside their own country. Some candidates may have a short-term motive for teaching English and enrol on a CELTA course to gain the confidence and skills to teach English professionally.
CELTA is also suitable for students working on gap year programmes which include teaching English to adults.
Applicants do not need to have English as their first language, but must have a standard of English which will enable them to teach at a range of levels.
There is now quite a well-established career structure within the field in the UK. As a newly qualified teacher, you might consider looking for a job which will provide you with support for two to three years then consider taking the next-level qualification DELTA (Diploma in English Language Teaching to Adults). After this, you might think about moving into teacher support in the role of senior teacher. After gaining some more experience, many teachers go on to do an MA in ELT before moving into teacher training or ELT management.

The IBU CELTA centre is a newly-established centre operating as part of the International Balkan University in Skopje. It is the only CELTA centre in the country and most of the neighboring region. At the moment, it offers full-time online CELTA courses, with face-to-face and part-time options to be introduced soon.

We are unable to provide employment aid in our country or abroad but are supporting our graduates with references and job guidance.
We provide assistance with finding accommodation and options include a room in our dormitory or a flat either in the vicinity of the University or in the city centre.
Refunds policy:
In the case of cancellation by a candidate who has been accepted on to the course more than two (2) weeks or more before the course starting date, the full course fee will be refunded. With less than two weeks notice 50% of the total course fee will be refunded. If cancellation occurs during and after the final week before the starting date a 25% refund will be made.
In exceptional circumstances the transferring of funds to another course may be considered.
The right to cancel a course is reserved by the centre in case fewer than 4 course candidates are enrolled on the course.
In case a course is cancelled by the centre, full tuition fee will be refunded to the course candidates.
Skopje is the capital and largest city of North Macedonia. It is the country's political, cultural, economic, and academic centre. Skopje is located in the north of the country, in the centre of the Balkan peninsula, and halfway between Belgrade and Athens. Known as the 'city of statues', it is also officially the cheapest city in Europe, offering wonderful cuisine, intriguing sights and so much more.
It has been a great experience! Although rather intense, the tutors, Mike Cattlin and Stephanie Wilbur, were very understanding of this heavy workload and were always at hand with any difficulties or questions I had. I consider myself lucky to have participated in this course, and I highly recommend it to every teacher out there who is willing to improve their way of teaching.
I really enjoyed taking the CELTA course, the tutors were professional, great and helpful, and overall it was a great experience!
I was part of the first cohort of CELTA trainees at the IBU CELTA CENTRE as a trainer-in-training. It was a fabulous experience. CELTA is a very intensive course, but having supportive and competent trainers makes all the difference. I had tremendously patient mentors in the process of becoming a CELTA tutor.
