St Giles has been delivering language related courses for more than half a century. At the heart of the teacher training operation is the St Giles Educational Trust (SGET), which was set up by Paul Lindsay in 1970 to provide intensive training courses for English language teachers. The SGET manages the teacher training courses at the UK centres.
The Trust is a registered charity which aims to build, nurture and deploy world-class ELT teacher development
in order to improve people’s life chances through communication. It continues to promote excellence and
raise standards in the ELT profession through its teacher
training and research programmes.
Our programmes are delivered by expert, well-qualified teacher trainers, who are also practising teachers. You will benefit from a learner-centred approach in small classes, we have a maximum of 12 per class. Courses are run in our busy and lively language schools, with the latest in modern ELT multimedia resources and facilities. In 2018, we had a 100% CELTA pass rate for those that finished the course thanks to our rigorous application process.
Our dedicated trainers, as well as administrator, can help you with career advice to find work or develop your teaching career.
Over 50 years ago, St Giles became one of the first organisations to offer accredited training for English language teachers in the UK. Since then, thousands of teachers have completed our courses and gone on to teach English all over the world. St Giles’ excellent reputation, as one of the most
experienced and respected teacher training organisations in the world, gives our trainees an invaluable advantage in the
international ELT employment market.
Help with Employment
As a trained St Giles teacher you will have learnt your new skills with one of the EFL industry's most respected and leading organisations. Your career and travel opportunities are endless, and we're committed to helping you on your way. We also regularly employ recent graduates off our courses.
In addition, the center has assisted numerous schools with their recruitment needs, and have built up an extensive network of overseas contacts. Many overseas employers now contact us directly when they are looking for teachers and we pass this information on to our CELTA trainees through a newsletter.
We can offer a wide choice of accommodation options to suit all ages and budgets. St Giles International has a team of trained staff to help with your stay.
If a trainee cancels in writing 30 days or more before the start of the course, full fees will be refunded minus the deposit.
Further refunds cannot be made either before, during or after the course, except in the case of course cancellation by St Giles.
St Giles reserves the right to cancel a course for which the number of participants does not meet the
minimum requirement, in which case we will either offer an alternative course or refund full fees and deposits.
In such circumstances, we regret that St Giles is unable to compensate candidates for travel costs or any other
costs they have incurred in relation to the course.
