CELTA - Cambridge English Language Assessment's Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults is one of the world's foremost initial qualifications for people who wish to become professional teachers of English language. It is accepted throughout the world by organisations which employ English language teachers.
Cambridge English Language Assessment works with international ELT organisations to ensure the acceptance of Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA) globally. There is now quite a well-established career structure within the field in the UK. As a newly qualified teacher, you might consider looking for a job which will provide you with support for two to three years then consider taking the next-level qualification DELTA (Diploma in English Language Teaching to Adults). After this, you might think about moving into teacher support in the role of senior teacher. After gaining some more experience, many teachers go on to do an MA in ELT before moving into teacher training or ELT management.

As crazy as it was, I thoroughly enjoyed my time!
I recently completed the CELTA course at IH Hanoi, and I have to say it was an exceptional experience. The tutors were superb, and their in-depth knowledge of the material truly stood out. Not only were they well-versed in the theory behind teaching English, but their extensive practical experience made all the difference. It was refreshing to learn from instructors who are not just experts in their field but have real-world experience that they generously shared with us. Hats off to my tutor, Mr. Michael Cenby, he really deserves a special mention. His ability to balance humor with effective teaching made the course both enjoyable and highly educational. It’s rare to find someone who can inject humor into every session while still delivering high-quality content. His approachability and wit made the learning environment feel relaxed, while still maintaining a strong focus on teaching methods and pedagogy. However, while the teaching was top-notch, I feel the course would have been even more outstanding with a few improvements to the facilities. The CELTA lounge, while a great space, sometimes falls short. The printers often aren't working properly, and we had trouble printing in color, which can be a bit frustrating when preparing for lessons. Additionally, the CELTA student resource library could use a "glow up" with more up-to-date editions of coursebooks and references. This would be a huge help for students as they continue their learning journey beyond the course. Lastly, I think a coffee and tea station in the lounge would be a great addition! It would add a bit of comfort and help students power through the more intense study sessions. Overall, despite these small hiccups, the CELTA course at IH Hanoi was a fantastic experience. The combination of great tutors and a well-structured course made it a valuable learning opportunity, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to pursue a career in ESL teaching.
Overall my experience on the course is really great and I have learned a lot of things from it.
