IH Barcelona is part of the IH World organisation, the largest and widely regarded as the best independent language teaching and teacher training organisation in the world. People come to IH Barcelona because of its reputation as a centre of excellence. Around 75% of students on the courses sign up because IH BCN has been recommended to them by a friend. We have a wide variety of courses: the CELTA, DELTA and courses for Managers, Trainers and Directors. And we organise the annual IH Barcelona ELT conference each year - with around 460 people attending in 2017. The school is centrally located in a large "Modernista" building about a 10 minute walk from Plaza Catalunya, the central square in Barcelona. We have a well-stocked library, an internet centre and wifi throughout the building. . We also have a snack bar in the building with its own sun-terrace which is a great place to relax at the end of the day!

During the course, the Head of Teacher Training will give a session on finding work. The session will include: how to write a cv, how to prepare for an interview, information on contracts and pay etc. All of our CELTA trainees are enrolled onto our "CELTAStars" site. IH Barcelona is a well-known teacher training centre, so schools send us job offers for our trainees. These are placed on the CELTAStars site, so that our trainees are kept up to date with job offers as they become available. According to a survey of CELTA trainees from here, 20% of trainees who take the CELTA course with us are offered work before they have completed the course, whilst 70% are working as teachers within 4 weeks of finishing.

If you would like the Teacher Training Department to help you find accommodation, we are able to arrange a room rent. This is a rented room in an apartment, sharing facilities, i.e. bathroom, kitchen, with the usual tenants of the apartment, who are often ex-trainees and English teachers.
The room rent is €400 per month, (proportional for shorter courses) inclusive of all costs except telephone, and our fee for this service is €75.
You are sent an accommodation request form with details when you have been accepted for the course.

In the case of cancellation six weeks or more before the course starting date, 20% of our total fee will be retained. With less than six weeks' notice, 50% of our total fee will be retained. If cancellation occurs in the final ten days before the starting date our total fee will be retained.
However, in certain exceptional circumstances we will consider transferring the fees to another course.
No transfer is made if notice is insufficient to allow for the finding of a substitute candidate. In the event of a course being cancelled all fees will be refunded.

NOTE Once the course has started, there is no possible refund. For this reason, you might consider taking out an insurance policy in order to be covered in case anything happen and you needed to leave the course.

Barcelona is now regarded as one of the most popular cities in Europe. It has the largest Gothic quarter in Europe, it has "Modernista" buildings designed by Antoni Gaudi and others, and miles of beaches with places for kids, volleyball, windsurfing and of course "chiringuitos" ( bars ON the beach ). As a city of culture Barcelona also offers you art museums, opera, music halls, late night discos and jazz festivals, and one of the best football clubs in the world! This combined with glitzy shops, restaurants, tapas and wine bars, has turned Barcelona into one of the greatest cities to visit as a tourist or a student! Barcelona has something for everyone.
